Creating Belonging with Traditions and Heirloom Gifts
Share
I recently put pen to paper for Tinies & Co. to share my experience of losing, and slowly finding, myself again in early motherhood. You can read that full article HERE but I wanted to reflect on the lessons that have stayed with me since writing it.
What I’ve come to understand is that motherhood is not about holding on to who we were, but about gently building a life that makes room for who we are becoming. For me, that journey has been shaped by a few guiding themes:
The importance of home - A nurturing home doesn’t have to be perfect; it simply needs to feel safe and full of love.
Traditions - Small rituals, like celebrating milestones or framing special keepsakes, anchor us and give our children a sense of continuity.
Slowing down - In a culture that values speed, there is beauty in choosing stillness, noticing the little things, and being present.
Creating belonging - More than anything, children need to feel they belong, not just in our homes, but in the stories and traditions we pass down.
At Coeur et Maman, everything we create stems from these lessons. Our products are designed not only to be beautiful, but to help families mark moments, honour heritage, and weave memories into the fabric of daily life.
Motherhood may shift who we are, but it also offers the chance to create something enduring - a home and a family story where love and belonging take centre stage.
As always, with all my love,
Kate
